Our February 2016 Meeting:
Meetings are held at the Erie Yacht Club in Erie PA and begin at 6:00 pm with a social hour and dinner, followed by our program/speaker. Enter from West 6th Street on Kahkwa Blvd, North to Virginia Ave, and turn right on Virginia Ave to the Yacht Club. Tell the attendant you are with the Torch Club.

Our Dinner Menu:
Dinner Menu: We will have a two Entrée Buffet, choice of, Meat Lasagna, Chicken Simon & Garfunkel, Roasted Potato Medley, Buttered Carrots, Salad, and Fresh Baked Dinner Rolls with Butter, along with Coffee, Decaffeinated Coffee, Tea, Milk or Iced Tea. Our dessert will be Cheery Pie Alamode.

"The Rise and Fall of the Chautauqua movement and lessons for Adult Education"

Our presenter for this evening Ferki Ferati was born in the small village of Bare, Kosovo in 1983, and immigrated to Erie PA on July 19, 1999 when he was 16. He is now the Vice President and Executive Director, Jefferson Education Society.

Ferki Ferati has been with the Jefferson since its founding in 2008, first as Director of Research and Operations, but was quickly promoted to the Executive Director Position in 2009 and to Vice President in 2013. During those six years Mr. Ferati supervised over 600 programs including the yearly nationally recognized Global Summit, 8 publications, and the Nation’s biggest War of 1812 Celebration for the Erie Area called the Perry 200 Commemoration (72 events over $2 million).

Ferki Ferati is currently pursuing his doctorate in Social and Comparative Analysis in Education at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2012, Mr. Ferati received his Master's in Public Administration from Gannon University. He earned his bachelor degree from Mercyhurst College majoring in Intelligence Studies and minoring in Russian Studies in 2007.

He is active in the Erie community serving on the board of the Perry 200 Commemoration, the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority and Destination Erie: A Regional Vision. Mr. Ferati is also a graduate of Leadership Erie in 2010 and 2011.
