Victoria and Richard Brogdan
Richard and Victoria Brogdon met at GE Speed Variator in Buildings 63 and 64 in the Erie Plant. When Drives Systems moved from Erie to Salem, Virginia, they found jobs in GE Transportation Systems. Because of Dick’s background in programming, he was hired as a manufacturing engineer and because of Vic’s background in chemistry and teaching, she was hired by the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Department as a technical advisor and then into Indirect Sourcing. Dick and Vic “retired” from GE in the early 2000s and began to work full time on their Brogdon Real Estate Business. They spend their time now riding around in their electric vehicles.Topic:

Victoria and Richard Brogdon will be offering our July Torch Club talk on the subject of electric vehicles. They own a car and a truck that are totally electric, not hybrids. They will tell us about the development of electric vehicles, the growth of EV sales over time, the different types of batteries that power EVs, a cost comparison with internal combustion engine vehicles, navigation and self-driving, charging at home, high speed charging on the road and the infrastructure available and needed in the future, and tax incentives/penalties for owning electric vehicles.
