Irene Fiala, Ph.D, Associate Professor PennWest Edinboro
Dr. Fiala is an Associate Professor at PennWest Edinboro with over 30 years of teaching experience. Besides Edinboro she has taught at John Carroll University, Baldwin Wallace College, Cleveland State University and Lorain County Community College. She has taught in the fields of Animals in Society, Criminology, Victimology, Juvenile Delinquency, Deviant Behavior, Social Psychology and special topics such as Violence in Society. Areas of expertise include animal sociology, animal sheltering, theories of crime and medicolegal death investigation. She recently begun work on Animal Culture and Society and Cultural Sociology and is now offering new coursework at the university in Animal and Human Studies. She is recognized as a board certified expert in traumatic stress/critical incidents with Fellow status and is a board certified as a law enforcement expert. She also works as a Firefighter/EMT with 25+ years experience and as a rescue/recovery scuba diver. In all her spare time Dr. Fiala engages in extensive world travel and has been to all 7 continents and over 55 countries.Topic:
